Ankh eases Americans into Egyptian culture with muffilos that blend flavors from both countries
When Mina Shendouda founded Ankh he did it to help share with America Egyptian culture, the food from which he said he could not find the US. Focused primarily on catering currently, Shendouda is creating a line of packaged muffilos – filo dough filled with sweet and savory ingredients that are then shaped as muffins. To help bring along hesitant Americans, some muffilos draw on the iconic US flavors of grilled cheese sandwiches, maple cheese cake and red velvet.
