General Mills adds 150 new products
General Mills is tapping into the latest consumer-driven food trends with its lineup of 150 new products in the US and around the world. To meet demand for such characteristics as increased protein, gluten-free, product mashups, bold and indulgent flavors, and more whole grains, the manufacturer rolled out new products and line extensions that include Cheerios Protein cereal, LÄRABAR RENOLA grain free granola, Chex Gluten Free Oatmeal, nacho cheese blasted Old El Paso taco shells, Totino's Pizza flavored chips, Suddenly Salad made with whole grains, indulgent Pillsbury Melts filled cookies and Häagen-Dazs Triple Sensations ice cream.
Innovation is a key part of the manufacturer’s strategy. Indeed, new items launched in fiscal 2014 drove nearly 5% of the company’s net sales in US retail, according to A.C. Nielsen.
