Mad Feed hits two birds with one stone
Food waste is an opportunity, not a challenge, for Mad Feed, which harnesses “the nutrient recycling abilities of insects to turn food waste into a protein rich feed” for fish and chickens so that there is less reliance on “unsustainable” fishmeal and soy, according to the company’s webpage. The Black Soldier Fly Larva created by Mad Feed is 40% protein and 30% fat and their castings are used to create an organic fertilizer.
