Annie’s president exits to pursue ‘exciting and terrifying’ start-up opportunity
We begin with Annie’s president John Foraker, who is making an exit almost three years after selling Annie’s to General Mills in order to pursue an “exciting and terrifying” organic food start-up opportunity in the Bay area. He will be replaced by Carla Vernon.
In a post on linkedin he explained: “I’m an entrepreneur at heart and I was never cut out to do the big corporate thing for the long term. I’m too impatient and too rough around the edges... I’ll be developing a new enterprise located in the San Francisco Bay area that I intend to grow big and fast into a highly disruptive force in the organic food space. I cannot reveal the details today but you’ll certainly hear about it soon.”
As for General Mills, he said: “I cannot imagine working for a better or more worthy big company in the food space, notwithstanding the current challenges. General Mills is a company that always tries to do the right thing. That culture of high integrity and honesty is so rare in the world we live in today. I value that immensely, and it is worth protecting.”
