Chobani hires man behind MyPlate as senior director for nutrition & regulatory affairs

Chobani has hired Robert C. Post, PhD. - a former USDA official who helped oversee the transition from the food pyramid to MyPlate  - as its senior director for nutrition and regulatory affairs.

Dr. Post - who served as acting executive director for  USDA’s Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion - has most recently been employed as chief science officer at nutrition consultancy FoodMinds.

In his new role,  Dr. Post reports to  Dr. Alejandro Mazzotta, vice president of global quality, food safety, and regulatory affairs, but will also work closely with chief marketing and brand officer Peter McGuinness.

Dr Post - who has also served as a nutrition advisor to First Lady Michelle Obama and collaborator on the White House Let’s Move! initiative - currently serves on Institute of Medicine health study panels and is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Society for Nutrition and Behavior, the Institute of Food Technologists, and the American Society for Nutrition.

Since 2004, he has been an adjunct professor in the Nutrition and Food Science Department at the University of Maryland and has written more than 200 nutrition and public health policy papers and articles.
