Tetra Pak's Tetra Evero Aseptic carton bottle has been approved for use by US authorities.

Tetra Pak announced yesterday that the pack – the world’s first aseptic carton bottle for white milk – had been granted US Food and Drug Adminstration (FDA) approval.

Launched by Tetra Pak in 2011, the one litre Tetra Evero Aseptic combines an “easy to hold” cylindrical carton body with an injection-molded top that “delivers the pouring quality and convenience of a conventional bottle.”

With FDA approval granted, US dairy beverage manufacturers now have the option to "deliver shelf-safe milk in a disruptive, attention grabbing new package."

“Through the use of industry-first technologies, Tetra Evero Aseptic provides many innovative economic, environmental and functionality advantages to our customers and their consumers in the United States,” Eliseo Barcas, vice president of sales and marketing, Tetra Pak US and Canada, said.

HDPE barrier

Earlier this year, Tetra Pak unveiled an adapted version of it Tetra Evero Aseptic carton bottle.

Thanks to a high density polyethylene (HDPE) barrier material in the carton bottle’s plastic top, the Tetra Evero Aseptic can also be used with products like enriched ambient white milk, flavoured milk, toddler and baby milk, and dairy alternatives.

It is now available worldwide following a successful pilot with Italian dairy, Granarolo, which trialed the carton bottle with its range of Accadi brand vitamin-enriched lactose-free milks.
