The Kellogg Company has announced it will pull advertisements from far-right news publication, Breitbart, whose executive chairman is US president-elect Donald Trump's appointed chief strategist, Steve Bannon.

The move came shortly after the company was told by consumers that its ads were placed on the Breitbart’s website.

Breitbart and Bannon have been accused of being racist, anti-Semitic and sexist by the US public.

Spokesman from the Pringles producer, Kris Charles, said in a release, “We regularly work with our media buying partners to ensure our ads do not appear on sites that aren’t aligned with our values as a company.

“This involves reviewing websites where ads could potentially be placed using filtering technology to assess site content. As you can imagine, there is a very large volume of websites, so occasionally something is inadvertently missed.”

"Denigrating" its loyal consumer base

BakeryandSnacks’ US correspondent has reached out to Breitbart, and is waiting for a comment.

But, in a statement sent to the Washington Times, Breitbart said Kellogg's was “denigrating to its own detriment a loyal and engaged community of consumers who helped elect Trump.”

“Kellogg’s decision to blacklist one of the largest conservative media outlets in America is economic censorship of mainstream conservative political discourse. That is as un-American as it gets,” Breitbart said.
